Another Saturday and another defeat for my local soccer team. I spent part of this morning opening packages containing new panties. Today is the feast day of St Homobonus, a 12th-century Italian patron of tailors and garment makers. I wonder if those garments included 12th-century underwear. There was a time in the UK when St Michael was the brand name of Marks and Spencer. Because so many people bought there underwear it was often joked that the patron saint of undies was St Michael.
