I once was on an inventory crew assigned to a large department store.
A supervisor approached me and said to follow her to the “IA†department. I soon found out that “IA†stands for “Intimate Apparel.â€
“I want you to inventory our panties,†said the supervisor. She handed me a scanner, instructing me how to remove the panties, scan the bar code on the tags and replace the panties back on the display.
The main wall, which I dubbed “The Great Wall of Panties,†had a cluster of 50, foot and a half long pegs, ten across and five down. Each peg held 12-15 pairs of panties. I couldn’t believe that about 1,000 pairs of panties would go through my hands on that day.
There was also a fixture with two parallel bars running about six feet long. A new pre-priced shipment of panties had arrived. I was given hangers to clip to the waistbands, scan the panties and hang them on the fixture. Most were bikinis, plain, embroidered, nylon, cotton, etc. My preference is for white full nylon briefs either plain or with lace and bow trim, but I wasn’t complaining about the bikinis I was assigned.
Every conceivable style and size of panty was displayed on “The Great Wall.†The majority were nylon. I tried to grab the crotch panels to see if they were nylon or cotton, one or two ply. I think it was about 50-50 on the crotch panels (nylon/cotton).
The display started with sizes 10-14 (XL, XXL, XXXL) on the upper left and moved to the smaller sizes on the right. The big nylon briefs were a little difficult because of the static. My favorite was a nylon full brief in royal blue with two full heavy plies of nylon, floral embroidery embedded in fabric of the front panel, a bow on the waistband and lacy trim over the leg openings for $29.95.
All day I inhaled the wonderful aroma of nylon panties and even when I left, I carried an imaginary aroma of nylon for a long time.
I sometimes walk by that panty area as a reminder of a wonderful day at “The Great Wall of Panties.†It will probably never happen again.
