I used to have 3 major brands; Hanes Her Way, Fruit of the Loom and Formfit/Jockey. Last year, I got rid of all the HHW/Fruit of the Loom, and began wearing Formfit exclusivly, that is, until Jockey decided to stop making Formfit, so I'm back to buying HHW/Fruit of the Loom again.
I wear cotton panties 90% of the time, nylon the rest of the time. As for style, briefs 75% of the time and since my collection is mostly briefs, that's what I wear. The rest of the time I wear bikinis, and string bikinis. Very rarely will I ever wear a thong by itself.
As I said before, I mainly use thongs as a gaff, because it makes my panties look and feel better, and I like the way you can just pull them up non stop without having to adjust your package to fit in your panties.

Microfibre or nylon these days, cotton not so much. Microfibre is best because it is closest to the fetish aspect of all this. So many of my lady friends have plain or lightly-patterned cotton panties in bikini or thong style, but I have found that when I have loaned pairs of my own nylon or microfibre nylon they have enjoyed wearing them. For ladies, cotton is the healthier option but they like the feel of nylon too!
Before the internet, when I started wanting to wear ladies’ underwear, I did OK in department stores but found I could not keep my nerve. I sometimes had to do several “runs” to lingerie aisles because my mouth would dry up and I would not be able to speak properly. TKMaxx (TJMaxx outside UK) was great because the women are animals, going for branded things with cheap prices and fighting over them. You would just mosey along and rummage through the wrecked gondolas and destroyed fittings. However, small lingerie stores were enjoyable. I went into one and was asked “cotton or nylon?” Which shouldn’t be a flummoxing question but it was. I found that women were very helpful, tolerant, kind, patient and sympathetic. So, cotton for all day practicality, and nylon/microfibre for the feel. So, both have their place.
Another thing about women themselves is that they have to wear tight, seethrough outer apparel, and have skirt lengths and vpl to worry about too!
Letting sales ladies know you wear panties is an interesting barrier to break. It’s only a one way barrier because the ladies know right away you wear panties. Take on board what they say, build up a nice collection of both cotton and nylon, and be able to join in the girly chat of female friends. Try to really listen to what they say as it helps when shopping because the sales staff know you are serious. It also helps to show you wear seriously rather than just as a fetish. They will love you for it as wanting to look pretty goes better than wanting to masturbate. Better to talk to women than masturbating about them. You also get to realise how hurtful and shallow non-panty wearing men are compared to women. Worship your women … and get shown their panties - a no-brainer really.
It’s surprising how friendly women are about all this, plus, you learn more as a hobby about what women do all the time!
Other materials have their place too in your collection, satin obviously, and also acetate for example, which has a crinkly, unyielding feel to it but is nicely opaque and lends itself to complex shapes and is good for outerwear at parties.

Cotton or nylon is a fundamental question. I remember being asked this when I was in a ladies’ outfitters in a quiet part of town and I was flummoxed. I was at an earlier stage of life when I just wanted panties. Also I was making out I was buying panties for a lady friend rather than saying they were for me. I just about managed a reply to this simple question, and was offered two pairs of seethrough nylon micro bikini panties as though I was purchasing as a gift for a girlfriend. Back at home, I loved the feel of handling the beautiful little items, but could only step into them. They were too small to fully pull up, though they really did feel nice. It’s always better to say they are for you, and it opens up a world of things you need to know which women don’t otherwise mention.
I gave thought to the cotton/nylon issue, and after buying more pairs from department stores and reading the labels, I felt that cotton was for comfort, everyday wear, and hygiene, whereas nylon (and microfibre) were sexy and great for a woman to be seen in, but not always comfortable or practical.
I now find that some of the irritation and rubbing of nylon is part of the fun, same with bras and pantyhose, and especially stockings and garter belts - for occasional wear only! I and my girlfriends laugh at each other as we try to politely adjust our bra cups, straps and bands. I remember one of my friends looking like she was trying to fly as she adjusted the straps of her bra under her blouse. She just looked at me in my own seethrough blouse with pretty bra visible underneath, and said “You should be the last to laugh at this sort of thing, just look at you!” And she reached out and squeezed the side bands of my bra under my blouse and pulled them as though making an adjustment I had forgotten to do. Cue laughter from the other women there. A delightful experience, being accepted in a room full of skirts, and thoroughly recommended.
I prefer nylon or microfibre, but do still enjoy cotton, cotton rich, or a cotton/elastane mix. It’s still nicer to get personal service in a small lingerie shop rather than from a rack in a department store or using mail order. Getting ladies onside is the main thing, and having some terrific chats with women who are delighted to help. Whether cotton or nylon, panties are just underwear, and as long as the discussion is about wearing them rather than masturbating about them, then shop staff can be fine about it. One of my tv friends told me about going buying ladies’ underwear with a “straight” friend. He wanted a particular sideless style and all the women came over and offered advice, showing how various panties would look when being worn. The straight friend went red and was hugely embarrassed. My favourite story from long ago was when I was told a story, this time by a “straight” friend about when he agreed to go shopping with a tv friend who I also knew. He was the first person I had known who “came out” as it wear and had women’s hairstyles and openly wore women’s tops. They went in to a ladies’ clothes boutique and the tv started asking about a pretty top. I was told “He asked if he could try it on and the sales lady took one look at him and produced the matching skirt.” My straight friend said he just stood there, went red and was hugely embarrassed.
So, to all of you who wear tops and skirts as well as panties, whether cotton or nylon, take care to enjoy life, involve ladies in it as much as you can, they are so sympathetic, and let them allow you to find happiness.
