We have all heard it said that women dress more to please other women than to please men. Now, for all the concern from some men in western cultures about the "sorry" predatory treatment of Japanese women by the Japanese men, would someone please explain to me why the prevailing styles, as seen in the first set on this page is not slacks or ankle-length dresses?

How can any person in a skirt so short get through the day without providing numerous (if not continuous) panty shows for any man in Tokyo?
