Whether true or false, themes of incest should be explored in stories because whether we approve of it or not it is now and always has been part of the human condition as told by the ancient Greeks and in more recent times by Freud and others. Like war it is something to be avoided but if it too is part of the human condition, we must try to deal with it. See one attempt in "The Moral Equivalent of Incest," in Allen (ed.) COLORING BOOK, pp. 309-324.
