When I started college, I pledged a fraternity.
The first week of Winter quarter was Hell Week. It was the initiation before becoming an active member.
Part of the initiation was pledges wearing panties over their heads while in the fraternity house. There were formations like the military has for basic training recruits. We had to wear our panties with the back panel covering our faces while in formation. While moving about, we turned our panties with the front panel covering our faces and looked through the leg openings. Sometimes we pinched the crotch panel to narrow it so we could see better.
Our panties were Maidenform® nylon briefs, size 8. The nylon was opaque, so vision through it was mostly blurry figures. I liked to pinch the crotch panel and rub the two layers on nylon together to make a swishy nylon-on-nylon sound.
During the Hell Week weekend, “Bolero,†by Ravelle played constantly on the hi-fi. When the record finished, a pledge was designated to walk backward with head still covered in panties and change the record. He then returned to his place in the formation.
After Hell Week, we signed our panties with our name and our class year. We thumbtacked them to a wall in a remote closet, dubbed “Panty Pantry.†We agreed that panties can make the world’s best wallpaper.
