About 30 years ago I was out of work, and the lady at the job centre was going through a list of current retail jobs. She got to one which was a job in a lingerie store. She started to giggle when this job came up. She said “Here’s an interesting one for you!”. She thought I was going to be embarrassed.
She was going to give me a contact name, and I spoilt it by saying it sounded great because I preferred to wear ladies’ panties and pantyhose, and could learn a lot because I wanted to know more about how to choose the right bra for the right dress. She decided to pass over that job, and didn’t give me the name after all. However, I noticed that she had a little smile behind her fixed professional smile now. In those days I might have come across as a comedian, but we had a chat and she was fascinated that I did have panties on and was interested that I had expensive lacy black tights on as well and was enjoying wearing them because they just felt amazing on my skin. It was lovely that she was interested and didn’t mind. We had a good laugh about things like how she as a woman never thought much about wearing particular panties, she just did it, whereas I had made a life choice which then was not so easy. I told her I had lady friends who helped me and we went for walks so I could blend in more wearing a skirt with a handbag. She wished me well, but no, in a government office we didn’t exchange panties.* She did advise me she was wearing Martin Emprex nylon seethrough panties in her favourite colour, which was mauve. They had an opaque modesty panel on the front with small silver stars, and a cotton gusset. I was wearing satin pale blue Disco Darlings which were not true to size and comfortable but a bit baggy, and she was so sympathetic: “Yes, they do need to be tight to get that confident girly feel around our legs and bottoms.”
She could have said “around the legs and bottom”, meaning women in general, but she said “around our legs and bottoms” which meant she was including me in the discussion. She was also giving advice and encouragement. I wanked over that little phrase with its inclusive delivery for months! Two people talking about their panties!
She did get me an interview, but not in the lingerie store even though I was willing to wear a dress and high heels.
* Edited in case anyone wondered why exchanging panties might be an “activity”. It is! I met a lesbian lady some years ago who told me that she had met a bi lady, and they had exchanged notes about what they liked to do including what panties they wore. Yes, I asked if more was exchanged. She said no, it wasn’t all they exchanged, they swapped panties, and she had the other woman’s on as we were speaking. Manners prevented me from asking what colour they were, and I didn’t feel entitled to ask for more information. She had said she liked orange ones, but then said she was not wearing orange right at that moment. She had a look suggesting I could ask what colour they were, but I just couldn’t I probably felt I needed to respect her lesbianism!.
I was still a bit in awe of lesbians but beginning to enjoy being taken seriously by them as a transvestite. It was unusual then and it was nice, so I was careful not to spoil things.
